Recovered over 160 yeas later this coin is one of 3,154 gold coins that was lost. The S.S. Central America (Ship of Gold) operated during the 1850's transporting newly minted treasures from the Eastern end of the Panama Railroad to New York. On September 11th, 1857 a massive hurricane stuck this ship and sunk it along with 425 personnel. 2014 the S.S. Central America shipwreck was recovered and the gold cargo as well. This coin has been certified by PCGS AU58. Encapsuled and displayed in a presentation box with Certificate of Authenticity. Historical sought after collectible coin.
